Finally made it to the windsurfing mecca of NZ so am planning to saty here
till at least Friday if theres wind. Looked at the first windsurfing site
and found 2 dutch guys also touring with windsurfing kit camping out next
to beach so I joined them. We waited all day for the forecasted 20 knot
Swester but it never came.
It was NW which meant it was quite onshore and the wind never picked up. 4
of us out in total with 2 guys doing loadsa freestyle stuff in the light
winds. I just about managed to get planing throguhout the session although
there were loadsa lulls where there werent enough wind to waterstart.
Did a bit of freestyle messing about at the end as low tide approached and
rocks were beginning to submerge everywhere. It was better than doing
nothing. Hopefully the coming week will have a nice Swetserly as this place
is ideal for learning waveriding.
